A story of a bold industrial home where raw design meets family life

Underneath the text, you’ll find more pictures.

Located along the Rotterdam docks, this residence is designed and built as a bold industrial family home. The interior embraces the raw character of the building while introducing warmth and individuality, creating a place designed for everyday life with a family of seven.

Robust materials, generous volumes and exposed structural elements define the architectural framework of the house. Rather than softening these industrial qualities, the design celebrates them, balancing the roughness of the space with warm textures and carefully chosen materials that make the large volumes feel welcoming and lived-in.

At the heart of the home, a striking blue staircase connects the different floors. This vertical element acts as the central spine of the house, visually linking the various spaces while guiding movement through the interior.

Designed as a true family home, each room has its own character and purpose. Alongside generous communal areas where family life unfolds, more intimate spaces provide a personal place for everyone. The result is a layered interior where raw architecture and warm family living come together.
