The Hague Blue

When the collaboration with your clients truly comes together, you get results like this.
A national monument on the Maas. Located on a beautifully redeveloped quay by Piet Oudolf. A penthouse with a view: from the Erasmus Bridge and Hotel New York to the S.S. Rotterdam.
The clients had many creative and unconventional ideas and were looking for a partner to articulate their vision and bring it to life on paper. And that was more than achieved.
This home has the allure of an international loft. Authentic and warm: where individuality and contemporary style merge. The house, situated on the 2nd and 3rd floors, can be accessed via the monumental staircase or the official “New York-style” entrance: an elevator that opens directly into the living room.
This elevator shaft forms the heart of the house. Finished in ‘Hague Blue’ by Farrow and Ball, it houses storage, the wardrobe, the toilet, and the connection between the floors. Surrounding it are a true salon, a chill room, and a living kitchen. All floors and spaces are interconnected.
Via the “concrete” podium where the dining area is situated – offering the best view over the Maas – the stairs smoothly transition to the upper floor, where the master bedroom and walk-in closet with pantry are located. And although the adult children have all flown the nest, there are cozy “nests” for them and other guests, along with a guest bathroom and toilet built around the core.
As the cherry on top: the rooftop terrace with a sauna and spectacular views over Rotterdam.
An incredible bonus is that the owners are also proud possessors of treasures by the Rotterdam artist Ficheroux, whose work is prominently displayed throughout the house.
The works by Ficheroux were also exhibited at DOEN in 2019 / https://conceptgalleryficheroux.com/
