In late 2021, we had the pleasure of completing a cozy and inviting apartment nestled within the latest high-rise development in the Scheepsvaartskwartier—the Zalmhaven.
The Zalmhaven consists of three residential towers located near the Erasmus Bridge, of which the “Zalmhaven I” reaches a height of 215 meters. This makes the residential tower the tallest building in the Netherlands. The two identical medium-height residential towers in front of the skyscraper contain spacious apartments, with views of the Rotterdam skyline. For our client, we transformed one of these empty residences into a welcome urban base.
Within this project, DOEN realized the complete design*, relieving the client of the realization and coordination of the home. In addition, we offered our client a wonderful mix of our brands that brought the design to life.
After an extensive study of the shell space, a custom partition was designed throughout the home. The oak veneer “body” provides grip and warmth throughout the space, while also allowing for privacy by closing the sliding doors to the office and bedrooms.
In the dining area, a dining table and matching chairs by Carl Hansen in smoked oak were used to find a fine mix with the metallic tones of the kitchen.
The comfortable living room was realized with a soft, yet sturdy Domino 18 sofa by Montis. This modular sofa provides an opportunity to enjoy the entire home by creating multiple seating areas. The seating area is completed with the Flax Lines rug series by Casalis and three side tables by Living Divani. The colors and materials used match the living space on the balcony.
The bedrooms, adorned with luxury wallpaper collections from Arte, evoke a boutique hotel ambiance, offering dedicated spaces for grooming, study, and relaxation. Concealed behind the walk-in closet, a secluded office nook provides a retreat for quiet reflection.
The entire home exudes tranquillity, simplicity and warmth. A serene haven amidst the city of Rotterdam.
